Sign writing for Children's Murals

See Keith in action!
What does it cost?
My name is Keith Baker and I'm a traditional signwriter — I use the old fashioned brush and paint to create unique signs and murals of any kind.
Freebird Sign Services is my business — it is a family run business (my wife Clare looks after all the customers) and we have family values at the heart of everything we do. We believ e in doing a quality job and being value for money, for people who appreciate the traditional art of signwriting — using paint, brush and a mahl stick.
I learnt to signwrite back in the early 1980's. While everyone else was getting a paper round as a teenager, I wanted to do something a bit different. My mum noticed that I was doing a lot of copying and drawing of lettering on my bedroom wall and suggested signwriting. So I wrote a letter to some local signwriters to see if they needed any help, and one said yes.
So at the age of 16 I became a signwriter. In 1983 I went to Hammersmith & West London College to train in this traditional art, and qualified in 1985 only to be told that the signwriters job was being overtaken by computers.
I then got a job with a company who still did traditional signwriting although we used computers more and more. I did my own private signwriting jobs, and then in 2005 I decided to set up my own business so I could do more and more traditional signwriting. I still love it as much as I did the day I started at the age of 16 (even though thats nearly 30 years ago!)
I love doing murals and seeing the look on peoples faces when it's finished. Clare, my wife says that she's dreading the day we have children as their bedrooms will be covered in Wacky Races murals!
Until then I'll continue to do murals for other peoples children and enjoy seeing the smile on parents and children's faces alike.
